Involvement

Who owns DNF?

DNF is owned by the GI industry. It is a contribution led approach that brings together base data providers (including OS), added value data providers, users, & system suppliers to define the path for DNF and to work on the definitions needed to make DNF a practical reality.

How to get involved...

There are a number of ways depending on how involved you want to be. The first level would be to visit the DNF web site on a regular basis to keep up-to-date, and to communicate using the email addresses given on the contacts page.

You will soon be able to sign up to be added to the interest list which will provide you with regular updates on DNF. If you would like to take a more active role in defining DNF then it may be appropriate for you to participate in the DNF Expert Group.

The DNF Expert Group

The DNF Expert Group brings together interested parties in DNF from across the GIS industry. Spanning data providers, software vendors, implementers and users, it provides an independent forum to drive forward the development of DNF. The work of the DNF Expert Group is split into architectural and communications activities. The architecture work is driven by an overall DNF Roadmap to ensure that there is a long term plan driving the short to medium term developments. The communications work ensures that appropriate DNF developments are made known to all those involved in implementing DNF.

The DNF Expert Group meets quarterly to provide an update on work in progress and to approve completed work. However, this means that members of the Expert Group are active between meetings in their respective working areas. The work of the group is published through this website.

For more details of the workings of the Expert Group and to better understand how you could participate, please contact us.

The DNF Communications Group
